Salute and the Saxons

Woo Hoo it's Salute tomorrow!

That may be a little optimistic. For the last three of four years I haven't really had a chance to look round and have done almost zero actual buying but it is an experience. I get to catch up with old chums, make new chums and get the inside gossip on new projects from all sorts of people.

I also get to work my ass of flogging flipping great piles of lead to thousands of wargamers. Which is also fun.

Anyway, full report upon my return. If I actually get to see anything that is.

So the Saxons. My inside man in the world of Dark ages academia has got back to me and I now know all there is to know about 5th century Saxons. I tell you what, they're not who you think they are and that's a fact! The stuff I've learned this week has given me a bit of a wake up call design wise but I think it will lead to a much better range of figures in the long run. As many of you will know GB has a mahoosive range of Saxons already and I though I'd just be adding a few packs without cast on shields so they could take the Saxon bucklers. Wrong. By all accounts your average fifth century saxon was a horse of a distinctly different colour to his sixth and seventh century cousins. I'm really fired up for this project now and I think the range is gonna be fantastic (assuming I can pull it off...).

The icing of the cake though is that this fella is wicked good on Franks and the Saxon stuff he gave me was kinda just Marmite* knowledge he'd swept up in his voracious pursuit of the Franks. This is only gonna be a demi-range but with all my new reference materiel I'll be able to cruise on through at warp speed and spend more time on funning up the figures that on worrying of their strap ends are right!

Right, I'm off to bed. Just one day to go. Woo Hoo!

Stay lucky,
Soaps.

*Something gained as a happy accident when something else was the object.
