The wife has finally finished her exams and Med school year 1 is over. Well done wife.
Now I'm sending her off to work for the summer. Bwa ha-ha ha-ha.
In other news, my self indulgent previous post seems to have struck a chord with a number of people. Which was nice. It even prompted Chum Mawdslio to start a bit of a classroom discussion. Can't say I've ever been responsible for that. Curiously he and Davey Dubya were both startled at my age. I know it's hard to believe by looking at me but I am in fact 32 and well beyond the attention of all the saucy (or indeed skanky) young chav princesses down our way. I await the day when I fall head first into that bracket of age firmly occupied by his royal suaveness Lord S where even a suggestion of sock suspender about his well turned calf can attract the glad eye from every yummy mummy within the Greater London area. Now there's a chap with style.
Moving swiftly on...
As mentioned in my last the Saxons are coming along nicely and I have rediscovered the joy of sculpting. I think this is largely to do with the fact that I have finally cracked the gee-gees. Now I don't claim they are the best things out there and before you mention it, yes, I know their legs are quite chunky (these fella will have to be pressed about three or four times each), but I'm actually very happy with them. So for your delight (too strong?) I present the first of my new GB nags (pending approval from 'he who maketh the ladies swoon')

I really want to post up some pictures of finished Saxons but if I start finishing packs to soon then M'Lord will send round the bruisers and want things released. So to save him from himself I'll keep them close to my chest for a while yet. The unfortunate by product of all this hype is that they are bound to disappoint when I finally show them off. Ah well, them's the breaks.

Nice geegee!!!! If I was to be critical & I won't be, the rear end looks a bit stubby? I am no expert & it might just be the angle of the pic. just feel at first look it could be a bit bigger & stockier.Hmmmmm rumps.. I am sure the horsies of today are far evolved from horsies way back when so it might be a breed thing.

Yea, and the temptation of the Ebob horses was great.
I've had a number of weak moment when I thought I'd never actually crack these bad boys but many bits of bent wire and evenings of fervent prayer have got me to a stage where I'm (so far) glad I didn't buckle. It was a close run thing though...

What did you use for reference info? Book or existing figure?
I grabbed a Perry horse I had sitting around from a long neglected project and kinda used that to judge the size I wanted (those Perry's do give good horse), and then used existing bits I had made for the ponies and about a mile of wire whilst sitting and looking at pictures in the wifes horse books (sometimes all the old crap she's kept for years comes in handy...) and the interweb.
The poses were mostly chosen based on what I had done with the ponies and the rest by looking at loads of other minatures to see what every-one else was doing. Why have a dog...
